YouTube MCP

Bulk Edit & Optimize Videos with PreFilm's YouTube MCP

Ask ChatGPT or Claude to change a link, a year or a title across every video on your channel. PreFilm previews each change, makes it only after you confirm, and keeps what it changed so you can undo it.

Changing videos needs the YouTube connection, which opens in Settings for every account once Google finishes reviewing PreFilm. A preview of the titles and descriptions of your public videos works without it.

You ask

Go through all my videos, find every description with https://old.link and replace it with https://new.link.

PreFilm answers

2 videos would change, using 102 YouTube units and 2 credits. Nothing has changed yet: apply with this preview_id and confirm: true.

Bulk replace

Change the same text in every video

replace_across_videos goes through the whole channel, private and unlisted videos included once your channel is connected. Titles, descriptions, tags or any mix: an old link for a new one, 2025 for 2026 in every title.

Matching
match: exact swaps the text, case and all, and keeps what follows it. It matches a link only where its host ends, so https://old.link leaves https://old.linkedin.com alone. match: url_prefix swaps every link that starts with it, whatever follows.
Your id in the link
A description's replacement can carry {video_id}, filled with each video's own id. utm_content={video_id} on a link shows in your own site's analytics which video sent each visit.
The preview
Lists each video that would change with every field before and after, the videos that cannot change and why (a title over 100 characters, a description over 5,000 bytes), the YouTube quota it needs and the day it would finish. The first 100 are listed; the job holds them all.
The apply
Send the preview's id and the same find and replace, with confirm: true. Up to 5 videos change at once and the rest are queued, each checked against the preview first. A video that moved since is skipped and named, and PreFilm emails you when the job finishes. A preview stands for 24 hours.
Following and undoing
mode status shows how far a job is. Stopping it with mode cancel keeps what already changed, and mode undo puts the changes back, each only if its video still says what the change left. A job still unfinished 14 days after its apply stops, and the email lists what did not change.

One video

Change one video and see the before and after

update_video changes the title, the description or the tags of one of your videos, or runs a find and replace inside them. The first call changes nothing and lists each field before and after; the second, with its preview_id and confirm: true, makes the change.

The hash
my_videos gives each video a hash of its title, description and tags. Send it with the change. PreFilm reads the video again first and refuses if it changed since.
What stays
YouTube deletes any field an update leaves out, so PreFilm sends the whole video text back with only the fields you asked for changed. Tags, category and languages stay as they were.
Undo
mode undo with the edit_id puts a change back while the video still says what the change left.
Link audit

Find the dead and old links first

my_videos with mode audit_links checks the links in your descriptions, up to 50 different ones, and skips social sites.

What it sorts
Each link is opened once and sorted into dead, redirecting somewhere else, still pointing at an earlier offer, or not checked, with the reason. One link can be both dead and an earlier offer.
What else it lists
The videos that ask nothing of the viewer in the first two lines of the description.
How much it opens
Up to 50 links a run, 5 seconds for each, and 10 audits an hour.
What comes next
Each video it lists comes with its hash, so the fix is one replace_across_videos or update_video call away.
What it said on four made-up videos
  • PreFilm read 4 videos and found 5 different links in their descriptions.
  • 2 links are dead, in 2 videos.
  • 1 link redirects somewhere else, in 1 video.
  • 1 link still points at an earlier offer, in 1 video.
  • 3 videos do not link to your current offer.
  • 2 videos ask nothing of the viewer in the first two lines of the description.
  • 2 links were not checked.
  • Each is listed with its reason, such as a social site, past the first 50, or a site that turned the check away or was too slow.
  • PreFilm opened each link it checked once, so a link that counts clicks shows one visit from this audit.
  • replace_across_videos swaps a link across every video, with a preview first.

What stands between a request and your channel

01Preview
A bulk replace and a change to one video are always previewed first, and the preview changes nothing.
02The hash check
Every change names the hash of the video as you saw it, and PreFilm reads the video again before it writes. A video that moved is refused, or in a bulk job skipped and named.
03Confirm
update_video's change after its preview, and the apply, cancel and undo of a bulk replace, each need confirm: true. Without it nothing is sent to YouTube.
04Undo
update_video with mode undo puts a change back while the video still says what the change left, and replace_across_videos with mode undo does it for a whole job. An undo is never undone, and it is priced as a video change, like the change it puts back.

Credits

One pot of credits a month, and every tool that spends is priced from it. list_channels shows what is left, and a refusal says what the call takes and what you have left.

What each tool takes: A More ideas run is 250 credits, a script 40, a roast 25, a video breakdown 10, a keyword check 5 and a transcript 2. Everything that reads what is already stored is free.

Every change also uses 51 YouTube units. PreFilm sets aside 3,600 units a day, up to 70 changes, for video changes across all accounts together. When that is used, queued changes go through after midnight Pacific time.

A bulk job that passes your credits waits for them to reset instead of failing, and PreFilm emails you when it is done.
